My kids are awesome
I am amazed every day at the never ending talents of my kids. Today Coen ran his first cross country meet. So proud of him! He finished 46th out of 47 runners, but he kept a steady pace and didn't give up and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I of course cried when I saw him jogging toward the final section of the 2k course, and kept crying as I took videos with my phone, and again when he crossed the finish line. Luckily for me, he has come to expect this sort of behavior, and doesn't get embarrassed when I sob like a baby! Adding to the pride I feel, I was stopped today by the school principal. Not to tell me that one of my kids had gotten in trouble for telling questionable jokes they learned from their dad, but to brag about how amazing my son is (as if I didn't know that already..). They did dibels testing to measure the reading comprehension levels of the students and Coen was almost off the charts in some areas. He was not a very skilled reader at the end of the last school year, but he really took off over the summer and Mrs H wanted to let me know how much he has grown and how talented he is. Just what every parent wants to hear!!
After the meet, my parents and I took the girls out for dinner (Coen went with his dad). Mara entertained my mom with numerous songs and hand motions that she has learned in chapel or in music class, and Anni sang songs almost word for word that she has only heard once. Where does that girl get her amazing memory???
